So when my first daughter was born, I wanted to make a baptismal gown that held meaning to myself and my family. I had left over lace from my own wedding gown (that I helped design with my fashion design teacher) and I decided to use that on my daughter's gown. I sewed pieces of the lace by hand and I also glued on, one by one, about 300 swarovski crystals on the bodice and on the skirt.<br /><br />My husband and I knew we were going to have more children, so I wanted this gown to be the baptismal gown that each of our children would wear on their special day. So when our second daughter had her baptism, she wore the same gown.<br /><br />I hope this becomes a tradition and a treasured heirloom, and our children pass this gown down to their own children.</span></div>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-74663144180623856312009-11-24T12:14:00.000-08:002009-11-25T17:21:10.175-08:00A knit beanie by Michele<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkBowhrPbYHrPsoGJIbTnaxrbWo0O2EXWtWFsDpjQ1zUWIGrBYEBTO9V7VESgccETNej1sSSqUrIyRD-w-3LMzJrX6hTB2ZoOWhcYMAxsMddCt8GbG_MV8eBWcbn-d6IBrG9vGuGiAgc/s1600/Micheles+Beanie.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 390px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkBowhrPbYHrPsoGJIbTnaxrbWo0O2EXWtWFsDpjQ1zUWIGrBYEBTO9V7VESgccETNej1sSSqUrIyRD-w-3LMzJrX6hTB2ZoOWhcYMAxsMddCt8GbG_MV8eBWcbn-d6IBrG9vGuGiAgc/s400/Micheles+Beanie.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408215685073089810" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#C0C0C0;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">This is a knit beanie Michele made. She saw it on sale online, and thought it'd be a cool thing to make. It's a fleece print with zippered pockets on both ends. And the nice thing about it, is that the print Sar picked out, has a lot of neutral colors, that it can go with a lot of things: white, brown, grey, blue, mustard yellow and rust orange. It took us about 4 hours to make because we kept messing up on stupid things, and the zippers just took too long to put in, but here it is! After all our hard work and stupidity, we're pretty damm proud of it!</span> </span></div>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-84010750471237214052009-11-13T16:27:00.001-08:002009-11-13T16:50:01.178-08:00Project Runway Finale Part 1<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPZWoGGoLR9cUNaa8FLfBMohRA8sL9yXnI0dA49QMt67ylHr5adHUlaGzeQl0xjbcRsuqBc9oC20XhcUK7CIPqjIgtvZyIZh0_myDTErPbd2JGnnoglaNM-Vj5Obqjhiwl-PLlS8Gl-Ls/s1600-h/sketch_fashion2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403749580585067410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 144px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPZWoGGoLR9cUNaa8FLfBMohRA8sL9yXnI0dA49QMt67ylHr5adHUlaGzeQl0xjbcRsuqBc9oC20XhcUK7CIPqjIgtvZyIZh0_myDTErPbd2JGnnoglaNM-Vj5Obqjhiwl-PLlS8Gl-Ls/s320/sketch_fashion2.jpg" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;">Part 1 of the finale last night was awesome. I always love seeing where the designers are from, how their collections are coming along, and I am always curious as to what their work spaces look like. From the looks of everything, I don't think I've made up my mind yet on who I think will win this one. Carol Hannah's collection has a surrealism/tim burton-esque vibe going on with that tulle dress, and I really love her attention to detail and the fact that she is self taught. Althea, on the other hand, has the really cool sci-fi super hero collection that is intriguing me. She's got that strong bitch vibe that I like also. And Irina (Meana Irina) has those t-shirt graphics (which got some "slap on the hand" action, cuz they were not her own designs) which have never been on a project runway show thus far...so I'm hoping that she pairs those well with her almost all black collection. What I love about Irina's collection is the braiding details she has on her outerwear...it's fresh and I don't believe I have seen that yet....makes me wanna knit and crochet again.</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;">I really feel for Carol Hannah and whatever viral infection she has. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have all that work ahead of her, and be sick at the same time. I hope she gets through it. Afterall, it is Bryant Park....there are no excuses. This is a once in a lifetime shot.</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;">I was happy when the previous 3 contestants came back to help (not just cuz of Logan...wink wink), I knew that another look was going to get added in the mix, cuz they do that every season. But I was also happy when Michael Kors and Nina Garcia came to chat with the designers. It showed that they support the designers, and they want them to do well. I'm worried about Irina's all black collection however, but I also admire how she's sticking to her guns about her color choice. As an artist, you are always second guessing yourself, but you should always stand behind your work.</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;">As Tim Gunn always says, "Make it work!"</span>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-47936963207381512412009-11-12T15:30:00.000-08:002009-11-12T15:39:42.642-08:00Purple Nurple Chiffon Dress<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2OEjzmRrklO2IMhzNjFruyTJOlk9peFmARmUXauZ3jUTX-tpWF0sVb_3dKxOwMyIF3v5jS8oTQjK5yhAPMHSOUOctc9pSJYAxGoMVXwracV4OdcfdpYPI1iwzdEm7gSPYuJeMhoubNME/s1600-h/Purple+Dress"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403365587757570178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 213px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2OEjzmRrklO2IMhzNjFruyTJOlk9peFmARmUXauZ3jUTX-tpWF0sVb_3dKxOwMyIF3v5jS8oTQjK5yhAPMHSOUOctc9pSJYAxGoMVXwracV4OdcfdpYPI1iwzdEm7gSPYuJeMhoubNME/s320/Purple+Dress" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp9zrbvxBwdAadBETzQLBoHTdn_MC4Kt4gLc45l4uwMKPqpF7jpkDtGRYxDKaw6aqJY2BS7qX5gYMDZvgRW6nu0HdhaXFfw34pXdGk8FXkJpJUDaNZka03zx_2BXYN-vafHC4FNnqPuyU/s1600-h/my+aldo"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403365486895197410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 213px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp9zrbvxBwdAadBETzQLBoHTdn_MC4Kt4gLc45l4uwMKPqpF7jpkDtGRYxDKaw6aqJY2BS7qX5gYMDZvgRW6nu0HdhaXFfw34pXdGk8FXkJpJUDaNZka03zx_2BXYN-vafHC4FNnqPuyU/s320/my+aldo" border="0" /></a><span style="color:#cccccc;"><br /></span><div><div><div><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#c0c0c0;">I made this dress in October, to wear to a friend's wedding. I received my "Free People" catalog in the mail last week, which I absolutely love love love! They're clothing is totally my style...carefree, vintage boho inspired, comfortable looks, not to mention, some of the shoes they have are pretty cool!! I wanted a comfortable, easy going look, so I didn't make it too tight. It looks a little long, so I think I'm going to cut a couple inches off the hem, and maybe replace the safety pins with buttons. I paired it up with a plain white tee for a layered look. He was very happy, and talked to the Starbucks employees like he was their friend, and he even smiled and was courteous to me as I was sprinkling my latte with Splenda. It wasn't the sort of happiness you see on someone who was being fake or trying to be over the top...it was genuine. His joy spilled over to me that day, and I felt like I was smiling from ear to ear as well! It's people like this gentleman, that you encounter no matter where you are, that make the whole world a better place. People who are optimistic and are happy, and who bring out the optimism in people are not only beautiful...but FASHIONABLE. There are so many people in this world who are full of negative energy, that not only does it make them look bad emotionally...but physically as well. The most beautiful woman on the outside could be breathtaking...but if her attitude doesn't pair well w/ her physical demeanor, she's hideous altogether! So I'm going to start a Fashion Trend here in this moment: HAPPINESS!! I'm going to smile each day like that man did, and surround myself with positive, caring and happy people...you only live once, so why muddy your life up with negativity and ugliness! Peace and Love!</span>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-3923177112594149372009-08-11T08:52:00.000-07:002009-08-11T09:08:41.556-07:002 in 1<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCMK4qMjoOXk__LyCgpRbnd02Kvsb_yr0yFObcJOluOwMDuB4j-2qJDbEjW7dYO3cQAzta8pEeTa-NHzezn9bGa1ypvK344EieCCVvql9cx0HcoeQOnJvgqznc1vl7KHNexPkqVUR8vlg/s1600-h/double+earring.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368738369441740082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCMK4qMjoOXk__LyCgpRbnd02Kvsb_yr0yFObcJOluOwMDuB4j-2qJDbEjW7dYO3cQAzta8pEeTa-NHzezn9bGa1ypvK344EieCCVvql9cx0HcoeQOnJvgqznc1vl7KHNexPkqVUR8vlg/s320/double+earring.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#cccccc;"><strong>Fashion tip fo the day:</strong> If you got it rock it!!...and I'm not talking about self esteem!! What a steal huh?!! But when I put them on, they just seemed so lonely....like they needed a companion today...so I decided to rock 2 earrings on each of my ears. They compliment each other in color, size, and vibe. This is important if you decide to rock this look...make sure your earrings compliment each other in a way that says they're friends =) and because they're such a big statement, I'd forego the necklace altogether. If I wear big earrings, I usually don't wear a necklace...but if I wear a big statement necklace or a long, clustered necklace I would either wear small studs or no earrings at all....it's like balancing act.</span> </span></div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-59380963010654930652009-08-07T21:14:00.000-07:002009-08-07T21:37:06.845-07:00Be Still My Heart<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYoxrAC22YTQ8rHgVS527EO0R4x1BnrKttjbKMja9gzinmLCTlvwvf5rwYEdPXvFZYJQmaJIRN-NX6G9_6LY-DcLsof71gxCLHLAvU6aI7f4iRFew4bRD7d791OUhJD6kGQARakGPdadg/s1600-h/quarry.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 231px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYoxrAC22YTQ8rHgVS527EO0R4x1BnrKttjbKMja9gzinmLCTlvwvf5rwYEdPXvFZYJQmaJIRN-NX6G9_6LY-DcLsof71gxCLHLAvU6aI7f4iRFew4bRD7d791OUhJD6kGQARakGPdadg/s320/quarry.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367447276576862834" /></a><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(204, 204, 204);">I have a new love!!!....Yes, these beautiful open toed ankle boots by BCBGirls. What a shopping experience! There were so many labels to choose from, my head was spinning! If you love wearing labels (and who doesn't?!) this is a place you need to shop if you have cash to burn or credit limits to max out. Preferably go when the weather is cooler and do not go on a national holiday, unless you want to shop in the desert heat and you like shopping shoulder to shoulder with people. I have been in love with all the vintage prints you see nowadays for a while now...but I'm more in love with prints that aren't heavily mass produced. It wouldn't be vintage, in my eyes, if mostly every teenager within a 30 mile radius had the same print. So when I saw this tricot based print at the fabric store, I had to get it!!</span></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span><div><span style="color:#cccccc;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">My idea for this top came from our very own sunny San Diego weather. It's been very warm lately, and I wanted a top that was light, airy, and would cover up my postbaby midsection. So i designed a racerback tank blousant piece with a pleated neckline. In the photo, I paired it with a coral pink spaghetti tank ($2.50 at Forever 21...what a steal!), grey cargos, caramel gladiator sandals, and my leopard print bracelet for a little spice.</span></span></span></div></div>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-48407028248971099252009-07-17T22:12:00.000-07:002009-07-19T22:45:39.305-07:00The Ultimate Test of a Fashion Connoisseur<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(204, 204, 204);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Times are tough...and so are everyone's wallets. But fashion doesn't have to suffer....or does it? Since the beginning of July, I've committed myself to limiting my spending habits for one whole year.... in the vain hope that I will save money and learn some sewing techniques along the way. So I've put certain stipulations on my spending habits......1. If I need to indulge in buying any kind of clothing, I can only buy jeans/denim, knits, and t-shirts. 2. Everything else I need/desire (i.e. dresses, woven tops, or outerwear) I need to make myself....and 3. I need to design & create at least 2 pieces a month. </span></span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(204, 204, 204);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(204, 204, 204);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I'll post up pictures, sketches, and my ever changing thoughts about this experience here....it's not going to be easy for me, that, I know for sure, but the benefit of the experience and the lessons learned will be priceless. Stay tuned to find out if I can survive a whole year, or if I'll crash and burn.</span></span></span></div>Louise Eduhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06258999633628701570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006103692100716608.post-49117737348553377242009-07-17T21:35:00.001-07:002009-07-17T22:09:50.592-07:00Karen Millen England<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjm_MPeEanNLFiZUpEg-4NRuIoqLKLGQt123WwW0wFVVtg0l5rkHFb3Hz9YZGIsiI1TJWN3mNxZsFzuQgabUh9nq3lv64CI51WvvGrtnp7y_x8tDHkZTFtG3IystzefNVxIvXfRsKhPEU/s1600-h/karen-millen+runway.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 194px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjm_MPeEanNLFiZUpEg-4NRuIoqLKLGQt123WwW0wFVVtg0l5rkHFb3Hz9YZGIsiI1TJWN3mNxZsFzuQgabUh9nq3lv64CI51WvvGrtnp7y_x8tDHkZTFtG3IystzefNVxIvXfRsKhPEU/s320/karen-millen+runway.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359662319669345106" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVmrmii5_tsrmKgl0JFpcrLYc-0YCMrcQg4neAAmphE3hxJXAQfSkhZcMZildQncTsxP8GYHVqPDFS-GbbAJTagXUF851cF4kYJSds5Ks3jUoqFHTdaopWN8me0IfKy0NCINZiP2FE-HM/s1600-h/KM+Decon+Leather+Jacket.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 235px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVmrmii5_tsrmKgl0JFpcrLYc-0YCMrcQg4neAAmphE3hxJXAQfSkhZcMZildQncTsxP8GYHVqPDFS-GbbAJTagXUF851cF4kYJSds5Ks3jUoqFHTdaopWN8me0IfKy0NCINZiP2FE-HM/s320/KM+Decon+Leather+Jacket.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359662313786686098" /></a><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(204, 204, 204);">I was at the Fashion Valley Mall earlier this week when I stumbled upon a new boutique on the second floor either close to, or adjacent to, Victoria's Secret. This is definitely one designer you will see time and time again here...as I have developed a bit of a crush. I was in a hurry that day otherwise, I would have tried on some clothes like the sales person had recommended. I spoke to her about the line, and she mentioned to me that Karen Millen is especially known for her styles, because of her specific body conscious silhouettes.
